Karen Pendergrass is a microbiome researcher specializing in microbiome-targeted interventions (MBTIs). In a 12-week randomized placebo-controlled trial, adults with metabolic syndrome risk factors who took Lacticaseibacillus paracasei MSMC39-1 and Bifidobacterium animalis TA-1 lowered LDL cholesterol by about 40 mg/dl versus placebo, with gains in beneficial gut genera.
